They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and let's be honest...if you're going to start your day off with something healthy, you want it to actually taste good.
Most cereals you buy at the supermarket are full of sugar and shit, and the super healthy ones are so expensive. So we suggest you make your own to save yourself some money and have peace of mind that there isn't anything bad in it.
*Poor Girls Tip*
The ingredients for this recipe are totally adaptable as to what you have in the pantry.
These are the ingredients we had at the time. It's always fun to add different things & get creative!
This is what you'll need:
1/2 cup of quinoa flakes
1/2 cup of raw buckwheat
1/4 cup of LSA
1/2 cup of almonds
3 tablespoons psyllium husk
5 tablespoons of cinnamon
1/4 cup coconut sugar
1 tablespoonof coconut oil
1/4 cup dried fruit of choice (we used cranberries as it was in the pantry)
4 tablespoons of honey or rice malt syrup
How to make it:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (fan bake).
In a bowl place all dry ingredients and combine.
Rub through the mix a tablespoon of coconut oil & honey until all the mixture is moist.
Spread on a baking tray and place in the oven for 15-20 mins. (Keep an eye on it in case it burns).
This will make approximately 750g.
Serve on top of yoghurt, stewed apples or berries, fresh fruit, or just eat with milk - it's totally up to you!
If you end up making this, we'd love to hear how you go!
